The Department of history, Madhabdev university situated in Narayanpur, Lakhimpur district, Assam, India is a cornerstone of the faculty of humanities and Social Sciences. With the prestigious legacy of Madhabdev College, established in 1964, the department has evolved as one of the prime centers of historical studies in Upper Assam. Evolving on the base set up by the founding professors including Late Dulal Ch. Sarma and Mr. Bhabadanada Goswami the Department of History periodically gained enough reputation among the academia and became an integral part of the progress.
Following the upliftment of Madhabdev University, currently the Department of History is serving both UG and PG enrollments with four permanent faculties and two guest faculties. In terms of research, two research scholars are actively participating in PhD programs since year 2025.
